No doubt about it, the Aquanaut is the most comfortable to wear luxury sports watch. The shape of the watch contributes to the comfort, as does the rubber strap. The look of the Aquanaut is pure classic, with its uniquely recognizable brush-finished bezel. This Travel Time edition provides the wearer with a second, skeletonized hour hand to track home time, while the main hour and minutes hand keep local time. There are “LOCAL” and “HOME” apertures on the dial, that show if it is day time or night time in each respective location. Lastly, the dial also provides the date which is linked to the local/main time. Steel case is 40.8mm wide, with sapphire crystals front and display back. Case alternates between mirror and brushed finishes, and has protective shoulder that surround and protect the signed crown. Left side of the case has buttons for setting the local-time hour hand. Case is water resistant to 120 meters. The textured rubber strap is also water proof and features deployment clasp. Tiffany & Co. signed black dial with classic Aquanaut engraved decoration, similar to Clous de Paris engraving. Hands and Arabic numerals are luminescent. Movement is the automatic winding Patek Philippe Caliber 324 S C FUS with 29 jewels and 294 individual parts. Patek Spiromax balance beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and with maximum of 45 hours of power reserve. Proudly stamped with the Geneva Seal. Watch is new condition with box, shipping box, hangtag, stylus and Tiffany signed papers and the Patek warranty is still in force. Very collectable and very wearable! patek philippe aquanaut 5066a review
patek philippe watches price I personally like traveling with my Orient Ray (black dial), as it’s a great inexpensive beater watch. Might be nice if it had a GMT hand but oh well, I don’t travel that much. In my golden years I’ll have to take my wife and kids on more distant adventures and then I’ll give more thought to what watch(s) to bring along the journey.

They should start developing watches that offer universe times, for when we expand into infinite galaxies.

your inner Treky is showing…very cool

Thank you for the recognition. I recently read a story on {popular} about a woman living on earth, & martian times. If I can retrieve it, I’ll post it to you.

There exist watches that were calibrated to tell sidereal time only – check out the Heuer Sternzeit Reguliert! So hardcore it is simply not capable of telling the time for any terrestrial time zone!

Avoid overpriced poser watches and check out the Christopher Ward Trident GMT:

wow, they are awesome.. like the clear dial, beautiful and simple.. I was thinking that my first watch will be Tag aquaracer, but now I must think again.

Scenes from the Patek Philippe Preview in Beverly Hills Wed, 08 June 2016 15:57
After meeting at Baselworld 2016, Patek Philippe is now completing its US preview before all the new models deliver to boutiques and retailers nationwide. As we've previously seen, the new models enrich the regular collection by debuting two new complications and revisiting classics. As a whole, the Patek Philippe collection is classical and restrained, with a high attention to finishing details.

All the time in the world

World Time Chronograph Ref. 5930
Measuring 39.5mm x 12mm, the World Time Chronograph Ref. 5930 is the world's thinnest worldtimer chronograph. It features an 18-carat white gold bevelled case, three-sided winglet lugs and a blue dial. The three-layer dial includes a blue city disk with the city names printed in crisp white, a 24-hour ring with day/night indicator on a silvery background (day) and blue background (night) decorated with gold sun/moon symbols, and a gorgeous blue hand-guilloché dial center. To achieve its uniform color, the dial is blue PVD.

For aesthetic reasons, the city placements have also been reversed from previous versions of the World Time. The cities previously on the outermost ring are now on the inner ring, and vice-versa. The applied bâton hour markers are 18-carat white gold and filled with Superluminova. The 18-carat dauphine hands are faceted and filled with Superluminova.

The central chronograph hand is rhodiumed steel, and the instantaneous 30-minute counter is discreetly counterbalanced at 6 o'clock and fitted with a bâton hand in rhodiumed steel and filled with Superluminova. The 5930 houses a beautifully finished in-house Caliber CH 28-520 HU world time movement with column-wheel chronograph, vertical clutch and flyback function. Price is $73,712.

World Time Refs. 5230G and 5230R
The new World Time 5230 features three-sided winglet lugs and a pierced hour hand. The World Time is fitted with another superb hand-guilloché dial, this time in charcoal grey lacquer with a basket weave pattern. The dial begins as a hand-guilloché dial base, then coated in charcoal grey through a galvanic process, and finally hand lacquered for a pleasing and lively finish. The World Time houses the Caliber 240 HU in-house movement with 22-carat gold micro-rotor, above. Price is $47,970.

Refs. 5370P, 5170R (ebony) & 5170R (silvery opaline)

Last year's 5370P split-seconds chronograph has a decisive influence on the new 5170R chronographs. The pulsation scale is now removed from the 5170, and what's left is a wider dial with larger registers, and a classical combination of Breguet and feuille hands. I was smitten by the 5370P from the moment I saw it, so to see its design aesthetic translated into a baby brother is promising. While the rose gold case with silvery opaline dial delivers a timeless look, the ebony dial will look more harmonious once the new 5170G is released in white gold. The new 5170R is $81,083 with either ebony or silvery opaline dial.

Perpetual Calendar Refs. 5327 and 5140P
The 5327 is the new reference for the Perpetual Calendar introduced in yellow, red and white gold. The ivory lacquer dial is available in a 37mm yellow or rose gold case, and the blue sunburst dial is available in a 37mm white gold case. The sunken subdials add depth to the dial. Prices are $82,786 for the 5327J, $85,052 for the 5327R/G $85,052, and $105,920 for the 5140P.

Perpetual Calendar Retrograde 5496P
The 5496 honey dial is retired and in its place is a new silvery dial with subtle hand finishing details that are really quite nice. The silvery dial is decorated with vertical satin-finish, applied rose gold hour markers, and a retrograde date made of applied rose gold numerals and dots. The numerals are so tiny that their feet measure just 1/10th of a millimeter in diameter. Hand-applying the numerals is a challenge and takes 45-minutes for the retrograde date, alone. Since the numerals are now raised, the hands pass over closer to the date.

The 39.5mm platinum cases houses a beautifully finished Caliber 324 S QR self-winding movement. Price is $107,730.

Annual Calendar Ref. 5396G
Patek Philippe is quietly celebrating a few milestones in 2016, including the 20th Anniversary of the first Patek Philippe Annual Calendar (ref. 5035). The new 5396G is the 22nd iteration of its annual calendar. The 38.5mm white gold case frames charcoal grey sunburst dial with applied white gold applied Breguet numerals and dauphine hands. Price is $47,970.
